Les Bartlett
Position: Internet Sales Manager
I started out with Mac James Motors as a customer. Damaged credit, no chance to get prime financing, and no idea how to make it better. Jason Fry was the Sales Manager who helped me finance my first MJM vehicle.
Then I was hired here at MJM as a Lot Man, (by Jason Fry)…then became a Sales Associate, then the Red Deer Sales Manager and now I work as Internet Sales Manager and have had (and still do) the opportunity to work in many different areas within the company.
Almost 11 years on I’m still here and can attest to the credit rebuilding first hand.
I’ve lived the experience.
Today I have a few toys, a few credit cards in my wallet and a good credit score. My family and I have a more financial security. My phone doesn’t ring with collection agents looking for me. Talk about stress relief!
It didn’t happen overnight, but the fact that I’ve bought 4 vehicles with MJM now and paid the same rates as our clients shows me every day that the process works!

- Types of vehicles/age: Will it hold an end of financing value?
- Finances: Higher rates with shorter terms are not a bad thing compared to some lower rates over longer terms. Learn about daily interest and how it works!
- Condition of vehicle: Do your research.
Know about recalls or TSB’s or accident history/how much will it cost to insure? What are repair costs and parts availability like? What will be its value at the end of your loan term?

A long time! I was the 3rd employee hired at Mac James Motors, 25 years ago.

Our pet days are over, we had dogs for over 25 years. We let them in our car, but we made sure we had a blanket to catch the hair.

Hey, that’s what I do for a living. I have purchased thousands of cars, and I treat every purchase like my daughter is going to own it, with care.

That’s like asking a parent who’s their favourite child. I love them all!

Yes, one dog who is always welcome in my car.

I would recommend Mac James to my family or friends because of the way the program works. Mac James Motors helps clients to finance an affordable vehicle while rebuilding their credit. If a client has a problem either mechanically or financially a staff member will always be there to help come to a solution.

I would advise the client to make sure they are in complete understanding of how the finance process works, asking questions is always better than not.

I started in September of 2017, working with Jason on the North Side.
2. What kind of car do you drive?
I drive a 2017 Ford Escape SUV.

We have 2 dogs and they have a special Dog hammock that they enjoy in the back seat.

I would recommend Mac James to anyone looking for a stress and hassle free buying experience, whether it be a stranger of my family.

I have bought 2 used vehicles. My first car was a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire, and I also purchased a 2008 Dodge Caliber SXT.
6. What’s your favourite car on the lot of your location right now?
My Favourite unit on the South Side is the 2016 Buick Verano, it is a smooth classy ride.
7. Do you have any advice or hot tips for folks looking to buy a used car?
Types of vehicles/age: Whatever kind of vehicle best suits your lifestyle. There is a lot of value in purchasing a vehicle used that is 2-4 years old.
Condition of vehicle: Purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle and keep up on all your regular maintenance.
Jason Fry

2.What is your favorite hockey team?
I cheer for the Oilers – but also the Bruins – too bad they didn’t win game 7.
3. Do you have any pets?
A rescued Doberman cross.
4. Why would you recommend Mac James to your friends and/or family?
We give people a chance to build up their credit – and the opportunity to drive a dependable vehicle with payments that are manageable.

I’ve purchased many over the years…my favorite was a 99 Honda Civic 5 Speed – should have kept it

With the Edmonton climate – I lean towards the Dodge Ram – they are solid all year round.
7. Do you have any advice or hot tips for folks looking to buy a used car?
-Types of vehicles/age – look for something with acceptable mileage.
– Finances – make sure you get something you can afford. Bite off what you can chew. Factor in insurance, fuel, the car payment – and make sure it makes sense to your pocketbook.
– Condition of vehicle – make sure it’s mechanically sound, and you get the Carfax history report – don’t worry about minor cosmetics – it is a used car after all – and you are driving – it’s your car…be proud of it!
